Sitting on the Dock of the Bay
And so to Amble. If you've never been....what the hell are you doing?... Get up right now, get your shoes on and get here... immediately! It is a lovely little village located on one of the most serene stretches of coastline in Britain (so the guide book says)...but it is honestly beautiful and peaceful in a way that many more touristy 'idyllic' spots are not.
I am currently sitting on (nearly) the dock of the bay, watching the tide roll away and stuffing yummy fish n chips into my mouth (I'm surprised those lyrics didn't make the original but there you have it😊)
This place, incidentally, is my father's final resting place...don't worry to all who know him, he ain't dead...at least I hope not, he's supposed to be paying for the boat ride tomorrow! (Spoiler Alert). What I mean to say, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind me telling you all, is this is where my father wants his ashes scattered. I have to say, he's picked a bloody marvellous spot...not just because it's sensationally beautiful but also that it's far enough away from where I live that I don't have to mourn him too often and when I do come up here for a chat with his ghost, it'll be like a little treat 😘. On a serious note, aswell as all the financial (boring) stuff, it's a good idea to tell your loved ones exactly where you want to be scattered/ buried and what music you want to go off to...these are the decisions that are often the hardest for families because no one talks about it before hand...and make it a good one cuz it's everyone else that will suffer if you don't😊. Case in point... I would like to be buried on the shore of Loch Garten (see picture of my feet on homepage for reference) with The Parting Glass playing (boygenius version if your asking)
Anyway, my fish n chips are getting cold...
